About Us

In June 2009, on our 1 year anniversary, we hopped the pond and started our lives here in Awassa, Ethiopia.  We work with Water is Life International, helping bring clean water to rural communities throughout Ethiopia.

For Kelly, living here is a little like coming home.  Born and raised in East Africa, she has spent more of her life on this continent than in the U.S.  Don’t let her blond hair and blue eyes fool you,  as our friends here say, she’s Ferenjie (a foreigner) on the outside, but Habesha (Ethiopian) on the inside.  For Ben, living here is a little bit further from home.  Born and raised in North Carolina,  he’s the first of his family to venture this far away from the Carolina nest.  Ben’s an avid sports fan (a tricky hobby to keep up with over here) but has found a way to play golf out here, so he’s a happy camper.  Both of us went to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where we met and fell in love.

After spending our first year of marriage in Charleston, SC, we decided it was time for a change in scenery.  After a quick visit out here in January, our bags were packed and we were here in June.  God’s plans are perfect and we’re realizing that more and more everyday.  He has provided for us each step of this insane journey.  We are works in progress and God’s grace is evident all over our lives.  The idea that he can use us out here in Ethiopia still blows our minds.  He is beautifully {and sometimes painfully} orchestrating each step of our lives and His fingerprints are all over our African adventure.

Our latest adventure started on August 10, 2011 as we welcomed our baby girl, Elaine Finley Taylor into our lives.  We are absolutely smitten.  Can’t wait to see how this changes our lives.

That’s our story…at least a little taste.  Thanks for joining us on this journey!
